The standard narrative treats global trade like a plumbing system with pipes that are simply too narrow. If pressure builds up, the logic goes, you just need a wider pipe. The Uncomfortable Truth About Inventory Strategy

Third, governments and international trade bodies must enforce open, standardized API protocols for transport documentation. We live in an era of interplanetary exploration where container lines are still passing paper certificates of origin around like medieval guild charters. Until the legal and administrative friction of moving data across borders is reduced to zero, physical investments in ports are nothing more than expensive monuments to institutional laziness.

The next time a maritime executive steps up to a podium and demands a massive investment push to ease trade strains, do not look at their balance sheet. Look at their operating manual. If they are asking for more money to build bigger walls around a broken process, turn your back and walk away.
